Uzbekistan celebrates Alexander Pushkin’s birthday
On June 6, 2019, the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Tashkent, with participation of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Uzbekistan, the Writers’ Union of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Cultural Center, held a solemn poetic campaign at the monument to Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, timed to the birthday of the poet.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Tyurdenev, Chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Ties with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan Rustambek Kurbanov, Head of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Uzbekistan Viktor Shulika, leadership and members of Uzbekistan Writers Union, Chairman of the Russian Cultural Center of Uzbekistan Sergey Mironov attended the event.
The distinguished guests noted that the work of the great poet is of high importance for development of intercultural relations between the two countries, for peoples of Russia and Uzbekistan.
At the event, the most outstanding teachers of the Russian language, winners of international competitions in the Russian language were awarded certificates of Rossotrudnichestvo.
Celebrations dedicated to Alexander Pushkin’s birthday were also held in Andijan, Nukus, Samarkand, Bukhara, which reflects the unity of cultural values of peoples of the two countries.
