Surkhandarya hosted “Baysun Spring” festivalOn April 28-29, Surkhandarya region hosted an open folklore festival “Boysun bahori” (“Baysun Spring”).
The event, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with Surkhandarya regional khokimiyat and a number of other organizations, was attended by guests who came from different regions of Uzbekistan and foreign countries. They were presented festive programs with participation of folklore and ethnographic collectives, actors and performers.
At the festival, skilled chefs and cooks prepared a variety of national dishes, children demonstrated various folk games. Exhibitions of products of national handicraft, fine arts and clothing left a great impression on guests. A special spirit was given to the event by folk festivals, performances by rope walkers, kurash contests, performances by bakhshi, akyns and storytellers.
At the festival, folklore and ethnographic groups presented their special programs prepared on the basis of national costumes, traditions and customs, ancient songs and melodies of their region.
Strongest wrestlers from various regions of Uzbekistan and neighboring countries competed in the national kurash contest. The best of them were rewarded.
The absolute winner in kurash contest became Samijon Ubaydullayev from Termez district of Surkhandarya region, who received the highest award – a new model “Nexia” car.
Baysun antiquities are now deeply studied by archaeologists of Uzbekistan together with scientists from Japan, Russia, the Czech Republic, France and other countries.
Scientists and artisans, who participated in scientific conferences and forums organized within the framework of “Baysun Spring” festival, in recent years, found here about 50 rare items. Art historians wrote about 100 works of folklore during the international expedition organized under the auspices of UNESCO.
At the opening ceremony of the festival, khokim of Surkhandarya region E.Turdimov and Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan B.Sayfullayev delivered speeches.
