Samarkand welcomes to Sharq Taronalari Music Festival
On August 26-30, 2019, Samarkand will host the XII “Sharq Taronalari” International Music Festival.
The main purpose of the festival is to strengthen friendship and peace between people, development of musical art of Eastern people and further increase its importance, coverage of traditions of musical art of people of Uzbekistan and other countries, close scientific and creative communication and cooperation with them, preservation of traditions of musical art of the East and further development of cultural dialogue.
UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay will attend the opening ceremony of the festival.
International scientific-theoretical conference on “Prospects for development of traditional musical art of people of the East” will be held on August 27-28, 2019.
This year’s festival includes several innovations, in particular, musical groups’ performances, international scientific conference, meeting with leading international musicologists, presentations and roundtable discussions.
The event includes performances of more than 200 talented singers and musicians, national symphony orchestras and dance groups.
Guests will also be presented rare samples of music and song traditions of Uzbek people and folk songs.
The festival will be attended by singers and musicians from 78 countries, art groups and ensembles, art historians and musicians.
