Rich history and culture of people
State Museum of History and Culture of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the first exhibition of which was organized in Turtkul in 1929, for more than 90 years has been showing exhibits about the rich history and art of Karakalpak people, the flora and fauna of their native land.
The museum’s collection, which initially has 20 exhibits, now includes 80,754. The Museum Fund stores data on jewelry and applied art, archeology, handicraft, nature, information about the 20th century, works of artists who made a significant contribution to the art of Karakalpakstan.
Karakalpak State Museum of Local Lore, serving for 90 years, collecting and storing objects about the history of people, works of art, was renamed the State Museum of History and Culture of the Republic of Karakalpakstan in 2017. The Museum of Ecology in Muynak district and the Museum of Archeology in Ellikkala district were transformed into branches of the museum.
– There are departments of ethnography, nature, archeology and modern history, – says Seniya Boybosinova, Deputy Director of the museum. – In order to promote the activities of the museum, to widely attract foreign tourists, the departments of Tourism and Marketing, Agency of Advertising and Information were opened in the museum. An online program has been launched during the quarantine. The museum’s website and social networks contain information about the museum’s exhibits. The museum offers a virtual tour.
