New play in a new season
Theatre of Musical Comedy of Uzbekistan opened the 46th theater season with a new play premiere. The play is called “My Fair Lady”.
According to the Press Service of the Ministry of Culture, the musical, based on the George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, was prepared by the director Ruslan Sherezdanov, the choreographer, honored artist of Uzbekistan Feruza Isayeva, the holder of “Dustlik” (“Friendship”) Order, conductor Dilshod Mutalov and the artist director Natalia Glubokina.
Events of the play take place in London. The story concerns Eliza Doolittle, a Cockney flower girl who takes speech lessons from professor Henry Higgins, a phoneticist, so that she may pass as a lady. The professor makes a bet with his friend. He intends to train the flower girl and turn her into a real lady. He achieves his goal, Eliza turns into an elegant lady.
The main actors in the play are the soloists of the theater people’s artist of Uzbekistan Z.Solovey, honored artist of Uzbekistan F.Maksudov, S.Artykov, soloists D.Sherezdanova, V.Yuldashev, I.Bukhaidze, N.Salikhova, N.Baratov, as well as choir and ballet artists.
