Ministry of culture and sports sums up 2015 results

A collegiate board meeting on the results of work in 2015 and tasks for 2016 took place at the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan.Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan B.Ahmedov and others noted that due to the attention to the development of culture and sports under the leadership of President Islam Karimov significant progress has been achieved in 2015 as well.
In 2015 the country's theaters put on over 11 thousand performances, the republican association "Uzbeksirk" (Uzbek circus association) - 800 performances. Over 104 thousand cultural and educational events were organized in palaces of culture all over the country.
Educational activities, carried out by the centers of culture and leisure of the population, recreation parks, zoos and museums, aroused great interest among the younger generation. Over hundred centers of culture and leisure of the population, more than thirty recreational parks have been reconstructed and commissioned.
The X international music festival "Sharq taronalari", "Bakhor simfoniyasi (Spring symphony)", "Yoshlik bahori (Youth spring)" concerts received special recognition in the national and international scale. Various concert programs, prepared by the creative union of artistic collectives of Uzbekistan, association of national symphony, chamber and folk instrumental orchestras of Uzbekistan helped to identify talented young people.
Involvement of the public, especially young people in sports have been continued. Around 8000 mass sports events, recreational actions and projects, competitions were organized, which involved over 1.6 million participants. Uzbek sportsmen took part in nearly 300 international competitions, having won 311 gold, 274 silver and 276 bronze medals.
The meeting outlined the immediate tasks for the development of culture and sports in 2016, especially for attracting women to sports, further expansion of the ranks of talented youth.
