International Festival of immortal maqom
Shakhrisabz city hosts International Forum of Maqom Art. It is attended by over 300 guests from 73 countries.

In connection with the forum, Amir Temur Alley acquired an even more comfortable look. Ethnographic towns, reflecting the way of life, traditions and customs of the regions of the country are organized on the territories adjacent to Oqsaroy. Theatrical and folk groups’ performances are being held on special scenes erected here. Foreign tourists are becoming acquainted with exhibition-fairs, which are presenting national costumes, carpets, national musical instruments, pottery, which demonstrates the tourism potential of the country.

At the opening ceremony of the forum, the Head of the state welcomed the participants of the international music forum, which has been opened on the historic square Oqsaroy, founded by the great Amir Temur, noted that the main goal of the forum is to preserve this unique spiritual heritage, attract broad foreign public to it, transfer in a primordial form to new generations. The President of the country expressed gratitude to representatives of international organizations, responsible officials in the field of culture of countries with rich maqom traditions, artists who supported this initiative of Uzbekistan and arrived to participate in the forum.

At the international forum, which will last until September 10, representatives of 29 countries will compete in various directions of maqom. The international jury will evaluate their performances on the “Best maqom ensemble”, “Best instrumental solo”, “Best vocal solo” nominations.

International scientific practical conference “Musical art of maqom and its role in the world civilization”, art performances of domestic and foreign maqom masters, contest of young maqom artists, scientific and creative presentations, roundtable discussions and other events will be held within the framework of the forum.
