Tashkent hosted an event dedicated to the 219th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin’s birth.

Representatives of ministries, agencies, public organizations, national cultural centers, the diplomatic corps, writers and poets gathered in the square where the monument to the poet is erected.

The role of literature in strengthening friendship between people of Uzbekistan and Russia was noted. Literary ties are developing between the two countries. The monument to Alexander Pushkin in Tashkent, the monument to Alisher Navoi in Moscow is an example of strong ties between people of the two countries, which are linked by commonality of artistic thought and literary traditions.

At the event, flowers were laid at the monument to Pushkin, poems of the poet were read.
