On August 30, the XII Sharq Taronalari International Music Festival ended in Samarkand.
This year’s festival was attended by 340 artists from 75 countries. Representatives of Argentina, Myanmar and the Fiji Islands attended the Sharq Taronalari for the first time.
The twelfth festival was different than previous forums. The performers took part in a competition for the professional performance of folk songs and melodies, as well as modern songs and melodies created in a traditional style. Their performances were evaluated by a jury consisting of 11 representatives of international organizations, musicologists and composers from different countries.
Museums, handicraft centers and hotels in Samarkand hosted exhibitions that presented the history of the festival in photographs, products of national handicrafts, musical instruments. Trips were organized to historical monuments that have a long history, holy places of worship, educational institutions, modern manufacturing enterprises, historical gardens of Amir Temur.
According to tradition, “Prospects for development of traditional musical art of Eastern people” conference was held within the framework of the festival. The reports of musicologists and scientists from more than 10 countries were heard, presentations were made.
The closing ceremony of the international festival at the amphitheater on Registan Square brought together participants and guests of the forum, cultural and art workers of Uzbekistan.
The amphitheater of Registan Square, which became the main stage of world musical art on August 26-30, hosted an awarding ceremony for winners of the XII Sharq Taronalari International Music Festival.
The participants were awarded in the nominations “The best combination of costume and music”, “For chanting kindness and love”, “A devoted supporter of the musical art of Eastern people”, “A team devoted to traditions”, “Continuator of traditions”. Special prizes were awarded by the khokimiyats of Samarkand region and the city of Samarkand, and other organizations.
The winners of these nominations were awarded with diplomas, a cash prize in the amount of 500 USD and memorable gifts.
Teams from Tajikistan (the “Badakhshan” collective) and from Russia (the “Ayarkhan” collective), as well as representatives of Uzbekistan – Azizjon Abduazimov and Ulugbek Elmurodzoda were awarded third place diplomas, and a cash prize of 2 thousand USD and memorable gifts.
The second place was awarded to the teams “Archabil” from Turkmenistan and “Hatan” from Mongolia. They were awarded a cash prize in the amount of 3.5 thousand US dollars, diplomas and other prizes.
The duo Komuzchilar from Kyrgyzstan and Parviz Gasimov from Azerbaijan won the first place in the professional performance of folk songs and melodies, as well as modern songs and melodies created in the traditional style. Winners received cash prizes in the amount of 5 thousand US dollars, diplomas and souvenirs.
By decision of the jury, Uzbekistan’s Mekhrinigor Abdurashidova was awarded the Grand Prix of the XII Sharq Taronalari International Music Festival.
The ceremony ended with a concert program of domestic artists, young performers and winners of the festival.
