Famous poet Alexander Feinberg dies16 October 2009, 18:15 The literature of multinational Uzbekistan has suffered a heavy loss. The national poet of Uzbekistan Alexander Arkadevich Feinberg died at the age of 70 after a long illness. The inimitable and outstanding work of Alexander Feinberg, followed by the best traditions of classical poetry, infused with a sense of love for the land of Uzbekistan, is a special page in the history of our literature. The poet was born in 1939 in Tashkent. His childhood took place in the difficult years of World War II. Engraved in his heart the life test, kindness and generous love of the Uzbek people subsequently found their high artistic reflection in his works. After the seven-year enroll in Tashkent topographical College, Feinberg, as a geologist, literally strolled all over the native land and was filled with a special love for its beautiful nature. It was during this period his first book “Bicycle Track” was published, through which Alexander Feinberg moved into the front ranks of literature in Uzbekistan. The graduate of the Faculty of Journalism of Tashkent State University (now the National University of Uzbekistan), Feinberg began to actively participate in the literary process. One after another, were published over ten books of poetry – “Etude”, “Moment” “Print the sky”, “Distant Bridges”, “Short Wave” etc. Feinberg made a great contribution to the publication of works of Alisher Navoi in 10 volumes in Russian. He also translated the best examples of modern Uzbek poetry into Russian.Along with that, poet’s works were regularly translated into Uzbek language and he became a favorite poet of Uzbek readers. The poet showed his talent as well as a screenwriter, several informative films and documentaries were shot by his scenarios. Such collections published in recent years like “Sheet” “Chigir” (in Uzbek) etc., were brought to the attention of poetry lovers as a kind of creative record of the poet. Feinberg’s tangible contribution to the development of multi-ethnic Uzbek literature was adequately assessed by the government. He was awarded the honorary title “Honored Worker of Culture of Uzbekistan”, “People’s Poet of Uzbekistan”. The bright memory of a wonderful poet, a talented translator, a caring mentor Alexander Arkadievich Feinberg will forever remain in our hearts.
