Uzbekistan, Turkey IGC Meeting
Ankara hosted the fifth meeting of Uzbekistan – Turkey Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which was attended by Uzbekistan delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Elyor Ganiyev.
According to Uzbekistan MFA, the delegation of Turkey was headed by Vice President Fuat Oktay.
Fuat Oktay conveyed the greeting of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, praised the state and prospects for bilateral relations between Turkey and Uzbekistan, emphasizing the friendly nature of strategic partnership and the priority of economic ties.
Uzbekistan – Turkey business forum was also held within the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission, which was attended by members of delegations of the two countries, representatives of more than 450 Turkish companies, heads of ministries and agencies, as well as the general public and the media.
Agreements were reached on introduction of a visa-free regime for Uzbekistan drivers and cancellation of a duty on transit documents for them from 2020. Cooperation Agreements were signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Foreign Economic Relations Board of Turkey (DEIK), as well as between the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Gebze Organized Industrial Zone of Istanbul. Uzbekistan Railways and Turkish State Railways signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
Relevant Protocol was signed following the Fifth meeting of the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission, an agreement was reached on holding the Sixth IGC Meeting in 2020 in Tashkent.
62 agreements worth 455 million USD were signed at B2B and B2G meetings.
