Uzbek-German business forumA joint session of the Uzbek-German and German-Uzbek business councils took place at the International Business Centre in Tashkent on November 4.
It was attended by heads of ministries and agencies, companies and concerns of the two countries responsible for such areas as foreign economic relations, trade, investment, banking and finance, engineering, construction, agriculture, water management, high technologies, light and textile industry, electronic products, pharmaceuticals, customs, insurance and export-import operations and others.
First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, chairman of the Uzbek-German Business Council Rustam Azimov, member of the board of the company «Claas», chairman of the German-Uzbek Business Council Jan Hendrik Mohr and others highlighted the consistent development of cooperation between our countries in all areas, and emphasized that this forum serves to further develop trade-economic and investment ties.
Germany is one of the important partners of Uzbekistan in the European Union. Cooperation between our countries is based on a solid legal basis. Agreements on avoidance of double taxation, promotion and mutual protection of investments, as well as trade and economic cooperation have been signed between the two countries in trade, economic and investment spheres.
The trade turnover between our countries amounted to about 685 million US dollars in 2014. Over 110 enterprises with German investments operate in Uzbekistan, specializing in areas such as trade, light industry, medicine, pharmaceuticals, agro-processing, automotive and transport communications. 40 leading German companies and firms have opened their representative offices in our country. Major investment projects with the participation of German banks have been implemented in various sectors of the economy.
The German business community have been provided with detailed information about the economic potential of our country, promising directions of attracting investments, guarantees on protection of private property and development of private entrepreneurship at the business forum. The guests got acquainted with the privileges and preferences in the industrial zones of "Navoi", "Jizzakh" and "Angren", business opportunities in machinery, light industry, pharmaceuticals, construction materials and agriculture.

Within the framework of this meeting and the International Investment Forum, we aim to conduct fruitful negotiations with the companies of Uzbekistan and develop mutually beneficial cooperation.
Participation of representatives of major German companies at the forum shows the great interest of this country to developing mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan. Representatives of companies and financial institutions of Germany, such as Claas, Deutsche Kabel, Knauf, MAN, Lemken, Siemens, Commerzbank, spoke about the intention to further expand their activities in Uzbekistan.
Issues of further development of trade-economic and investment cooperation between the two countries has been discussed at the meeting, particularly in the banking sector, trade, investment, transport and communications, pharmaceuticals, light industry and textiles. The participants agreed to further expand and strengthen the scope of cooperation between the business circles of Uzbekistan and Germany, jointly develop and implement new projects.
