Textile exports from Uzbekistan outstripped energy exports
According to the State Statistics Committee, in January 2020, textile products were exported in the amount of 155.2 million USD, which amounted to 12.1% of total exports. Compared to January 2019, it increased by 1.4 times.
The official statistics recorded that textile exports for the first time outstripped exports of energy and petroleum products (152.2 million USD) in January. Gold remains the foreign market’s favorite, which was exported in January at 489.8 million USD.
The increase in exports of textile products can directly be seen as a result of reforms on producing finished products and creating added value in return for the production of raw cotton.
