Samarkand hosted the 1st International Investment Forum “Invest in Samarkand” and “Made in Samarkand” national exhibition of the regional manufacturers.

The event, organized at the initiative of Samarkand regional khokimiyat, is significant in that it’s goal is to expand the economic opportunities of the region and increase direct foreign investment, expand investment attractiveness and export opportunities of Samarkand, create new jobs.

Over 310 representatives from 31 countries attended the forum.

Investors and entrepreneurs visited Pure Milky, Agromir, SAG Gilamlari, Afrosiyob Jeans enterprises, received information about the conditions created for entrepreneurs in the region, the investment environment.

Khokim of Samarkand region E. Turdimov, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade S. Umurzokov, First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan I. Jasimov, representatives of foreign delegations, investors operating in Samarkand region addressed the plenary session.

Issues of increasing the export potential of the region, attractiveness of the region for attracting capital, formation of the tourism industry in the regional economy, localization of production, development of import substitution and processing of agricultural products were discussed at the forum. B2B, B2G, G2G meetings and a presentation of new investment projects were held.

Presentation was held on construction and operation projects together with large foreign investors of Samarkand International Airport, modern attractions, amusement parks with movie theaters IMEX, production of automotive equipment, IT Parks, City business centers, tourism complexes and a number of social and humanitarian projects.

At the briefing, Khokim of Samarkand region E. Turdimov informed that 234 agreements worth over 1.7 billion USD were signed at the 1st International Investment Forum “Invest in Samarkand”.

53 investment agreements worth 1 billion 543 million dollars have been signed. The amount of investments of local entrepreneurs amounted to 126.8 million dollars, and of foreign direct investment – 1 billion 416 million dollars.

At the same time, 61 export contracts worth 181 million dollars were signed during the forum.
