A session of the Khorezm regional Council, dedicated to the results of 2015 and main priorities of social-economic development of the region in 2016 has been held in Urgench.

The session, chaired by the khokim of Khorezm region P.Babadjanov, has paid a special attention to ensuring fulfilment of the tasks, defined in the report of the President Islam Karimov at the extended session of the Cabinet of Ministers, dedicated to the results of social-economic development of the country in 2015 and main priorities of economic program in 2016.

In the reporting period, the gross regional product of the region has grown 10,1%, industrial production has increased by 21,9%, agricultural output by 5,9%, construction works by 13,2%, retail trade turnover by 12,5%, services by 13,4%.

1725 projects with investments of 559 bln. soums have been implemented in industry, agricultural and services sectors and 11,6 thousand new jobs have been created.

In accordance with the decree of the President of our country “On the program of development of industrial potential of Khorezm region in 2013-2015” from 22 November 2012, 308,5 mln. USD foreign investments have been disbursed in the last three years and 432 industrial enterprises have been commissioned. In particular, the industrial output per capita has reached 1,358 mln soums in 2015 compared to 506 thousand soums in 2012.

Today 31 per cent of industrial output of the region comes from machinery and metallurgy sectors, 27,2% from textiles, 17,7% from food industry and 16,6 from other spheres.

Khorezm branch of GM Uzbekistan JSC in Khazarasp district has manufactured 49 thousand “Damas”, 2984 “Orlando” and 1431 “Labo” vehicles. UzXMG joint venture has manufactured 232 agricultural machinery, in particular 149 excavators, 72 bulldozers and 12 units of lifting equipment.

In accordance with the Localization program 1200 freezers and refrigerators have been produced by “Khiva maishiy tehnika” enterprise in Khiva district, and over 1 mln. LED lamps by “Kushkupir Agro Invest” enterprise in Kushkupir district.

A special attention has been paid to the issues of employment, increasing tourist and export potential of the region, further development of small business and private entrepreneurship, wide attraction of foreign investments.
