Agreements worth $35.5 million were signed with Pakistan companiesOfficial delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by the Minister for Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjayev, as well as the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Investments and representatives of other agencies visited the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (IRP).
The delegation held negotiations at the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, as well as at the Ministry of Commerce and Textile Industry. Following the negotiations, arrangements and agreements were reached in various spheres.
As reported by the Ministry for Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the sides reached agreements on starting cooperation in the sphere of certification and standardization, including ensuring mutual recognition of certificates of the two countries.
Within the framework of the visit, an official opening ceremony of the office of Uzbekistan – Pakistan Business Council was held in Islamabad, and its first meeting took place. Within the framework of the visit, two business forums were also organized jointly with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Rawalpindi and Pakistan – Uzbekistan Trade and Cultural Center. More than 170 companies of Pakistan attended the events.
Following the negotiations, agreements worth $35.5 million were signed with the leading companies of Pakistan on implementation of investment projects in such areas as pharmaceuticals, leather production and development of tourism industry. Agreements were reached on supplying beans and dried agricultural products, textile, leather and petrochemical products to Pakistan in the amount of $8.7 million.
